Dumbo’s Belgian Block + Infrastructure Reconstruction
Modern infrastruction meerts historic charm.
For decades, Team advocated to the City to restore and modernize Dumbo’s famed Belgian block streets, upgrade water and sewer infrastructure, and finish the neighborhood’s plaza spaces.
This $108 million NYC construction project broke ground in April 2019, and was completed in December 2025.
Alexandria Sica, President of the Dumbo Business Improvement District, said she was “thrilled to have been able to preserve the Belgian blocks while making them bikeable and accessible for everyone.”
Hxxxxx by the numbers:

(The last) Belgian Block Party
On November 19, 2025, the community gathered to makr this major milestone. More than 400 Dumbonians came out to celebrate the end of construction this week. We screamed, popped confetti and enjoyed Belgian block-shaped cakes from Dawn’s til Dusk, pizza from Ignazios & Front Street Pizza, and tunes by Cara Lee Sparry. And a special thanks to NYC DOT, NYC DDC, Councilmember Restler, and Two TreesNY for making this all happen!
