Dumbo Design Day | May 20, 2026
Join us during NYCxDesign for a full day of Dumbo Design Day—insider tours, panels, projections, and an epic festival closing party at Superfine from 6-9pm.
With hundreds of architecture & design studios, and dozens of indie design shops, Dumbo was officially crowned a Design District in 2025—and we couldn’t agree more. Come check out what makes Dumbo the place to be for design. A different side of New York.

Brooklyn Movement x Creativity: A Design Workshop at Third Door
Date: Wednesday, May 20th
Time: 12:00 – 1:00 PM
Location: 95 Plymouth Street, Studio 604
Designers trained in somatic awareness stop asking ‘does this look right?’ and start asking ‘does this feel right in my body?’ That shift is not metaphorical. Research in embodied cognition consistently shows that bodily states shape aesthetic judgment: posture affects perceived weight, breath rate affects perceived pace, muscle tension affects perceived friction. Your body is already doing design critique. Learning to listen is the skill.
Your body knows bad design before your brain does. Movement × Creativity is a one-hour workshop that teaches designers to listen, to breathe before they critique, to feel before they finalize. Come spend your lunch break learning the design skill nobody taught you in school.

Location: 202 Plymouth Street
To celebrate the expansion of one of DUMBO’s last remaining large-scale artisan manufacturing facilities, Mark Jupiter will host a one-hour immersive experience inside his workshop. “Grain & Grain” pairs a curated bourbon tasting with a live demonstration of five limited-edition charcuterie boards crafted in real time from reclaimed shop material. Each piece will be raffled to guests at the close of the hour. The event highlights the intersection of material, machinery, and handcraft, offering an intimate look at how raw lumber becomes refined design. A brief toast to the enduring importance of manufacturing within the DUMBO Design District will conclude the program, before transitioning into the neighborhood-wide celebration.
