ARTIST TALK & RECEPTION: IT WON’T MAKE SENSE AT FIRST
October 22 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Please join us for a talk & reception with artist Mekia Machine. Talk begins at 7pm. The exhibition brings together works from three ongoing series, Dead Lovers, Wandering, and Landscapes, exploring themes of identity, memory, loss, and the relationship between the human body and the world around us.
Through a combination of painting techniques, textures, and vibrant color, Machine examines the emotional and physical effects of living in an increasingly uncertain world. In Wandering, fragmented figures reflect the disconnect between mind and body, while exploring the search for human connection in a rapidly changing society. Dead Lovers draws from the personal loss of Machine’s childhood best friend, who drowned in 2003. The series explores grief, memory, and the challenge of preserving the presence of those we have lost. In Landscapes, the human figure merges with nature, reflecting on mortality, the passage of time, and the beauty found within life’s impermanence.
