Join literary magazine & nonprofit One Story and author Irina Reyn for a writing field trip!
An inspirational setting can jumpstart the imagination. Just as artists sketch in museums or on a busy sidewalk, taking a writer away from their desk and engaging them in the world can bring new life to their work. This site-specific class takes place at Jane’s Carousel and Brooklyn Bridge Park on June 27, 2026, from 9:45am–12:30pm.
Learn about the transformation of the park’s six piers from their industrial origin to the present day and gather inspiration from people-watching at Jane’s Carousel. The class includes a guided tour of Brooklyn Bridge Park, a craft lecture by Irina Reyn, generative writing exercises, and an optional reading of student work.
