SUMMARY:Author Event: "We Hexed the Moon" with Mollyhall Seeley
DESCRIPTION:Join Brooklyn Public Library and POWERHOUSE Arena for a reading and conversation with author Mollyhall Seeley on her novel\, We Hexed the Moon (Saga Press\, 2026). Copies of the book will be available for purchase from POWERHOUSE Arena Bookstore. \nThis event will be held at POWERHOUSE Arena (28 Adams Street). Registration encouraged. \nABOUT THE BOOK\n“Bunny” meets “The Craft” in this speculative debut about four best friends who perform a ritual on the moon in a last-ditch attempt to hold onto one another but are forced to reckon with the consequences. \nIt is the summer after high school graduation\, and four island-grown best friends are about to be forced apart by their Plans for the Future. Rather than process the world of expectations bearing down on them or the secrets they’ve kept hidden even from one another\, they perform a ritual on the moon in an impulsive fit of teen bravado. \nThey don’t expect it to actually work. \nBut suddenly the moon is gone from the sky and at their sleepover\, and she’s not interested in going back where she came from. As the balmy August night unfolds\, the girls scramble to find a human sacrifice to replace the moon before their world is plunged into chaos. \nEqually tender and biting\, We Hexed the Moon is coming-of-age at its best\, cutting to the very quick of girlhood to reveal hilarious and brutally honest insights about friendship\, gender\, and desire.

SUMMARY:Sip and Create: 3-D Sculpture Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Creatively Wild Art Studio and experience the joy of clay sculpture. Get your hands dirty and mold your night into something you will never forget! With no experience needed\, our instructor will show you step by step how to mold\, form\, and manipulate clay into handheld items\, figures\, or abstract work! Complimentary wine and snacks will be served during class. \nAll clay/tools will be provided\, and an optional chance to have pieces properly fired at a separate art studio is available. Any artwork that will be fired in a kiln will be picked up at a later date and arranged with the studio owner. \nAdmission must be purchased by every guest planning to use the clay. Free attendance for anyone interested in watching or touring the studio and speaking to the on-site artist. \nFiring clay after the workshop is over. Guests will coordinate firing with the partnering ceramics studio for pickup. \nOne vs. Two Firings:\nBased on your purchase\, your piece will be fired either once or twice. Firing once will leave you with a decorative piece; a second firing will give you a usable piece (see below). \nThe Pieces:\nYour creations will need up to 2 weeks to dry before firing; they should be ready for either pickup OR painting after 3 weeks (see below). You’ll be notified via WhatsApp\, text\, or call when they’re ready. \nDecorative vs. Usable:\nDecorative pieces require 1 firing. You can paint them at home\, or leave them as they are. They are not to get wet.\nUsable pieces require glazing and a 2nd firing. You may choose to paint the fired pieces in-studio; then they will be dipped in clear glaze and re-fired. After this second process\, they will be water-tight and able to be used for food\, drinks\, as vases\, etc.

SUMMARY:Practical Spirituality Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Naomi Shu is excited to explore and share the insights that she has gained through her Quantum Healing Hypnosis practice—work that has deeply accelerated her own spiritual growth. Because all the memories and wisdom are held in the subconscious\, she has uncovered the deeper meaning of life\, who we truly are\, why we’re here\, and the underlying truth behind many of our mental and physical challenges\, such as depression and anxiety. Naomi has learned many of the universe’s deeper mysteries while working with clients\, witnessing perspectives and experiences that most people rarely have access to. \nNaomi is looking forward to sharing these understandings with the world\, helping others see themselves and the universe through broader\, higher perspectives. Every challenge we encounter is something we’ve chosen in order to grow through it. The essence of the soul is to learn\, expand\, and evolve—and when we align with that purpose\, peace and joy naturally follow. \nFinally\, have fun making new friends!

SUMMARY:United States of Zaf
DESCRIPTION:This solo show tells the saga of how my zany Syrian-American father\, Zaf Basha\, ran for public office in my hometown and dragged my entire family into the madness. \nFollowing a successful world premiere at the 2025 Elysian Spaghetti Festival\, UNITED STATES OF ZAF is back! This is the saga of how my zany Syrian-American father\, Zaf Basha\, ran for public office in my hometown and dragged my entire family into the madness. He ran for the lowest possible government position imaginable\, an “advisory neighborhood council seat”\, took it WAY too seriously\, then lost by 6 votes! Me\, my sister\, and mother were all reluctantly assigned official roles on his “political campaign.” This show takes the audience through the chronological journey of my batshit Arab dad’s political journey by showcasing family videos\, group chat messages\, and real-life images from that time. His story will be interspersed with some of my own hot takes about politics\, identity\, and what it means to be an immigrant in America. \nWritten & performed by Gena B. Jones (Netflix Is A Joke Fest\, NY Comedy Fest). Directed by Maurin Mwombela.
