BRIDGE OF SPIES (2015)

During the Cold War, an American lawyer is recruited to defend an arrested Soviet spy in court, and then help the CIA facilitate an exchange of the spy for the Soviet captured American U2 spy plane pilot, Francis Gary Powers.

Many of the scenes were shot in DUMBO, particularly on Anchorage Street. The street was remodeled to look as if the movie took place in the 1960s.

BROOKLYN MADE – SPIKE LEE (2016)

Brooklyn Made is an effort by the borough’s Chamber of Commerce to certify goods produced in the area, and Spike DDB collaborated with the group on the 10-minute film.

Corey Stoll trained at Gleason’s Gym in DUMBO for this part. Scenes were also filmed on Front Street between Main Street and Washington Street.

In the opening sequence, we see Dr. Goodwin embark on a run starting in Dumbo, — so we assume that his apartment is located there. Members of the popular South Korean boy band, Big Bang filmed their music video “Blue” in DUMBO. Blue was one of the top hits in South Korea in 2012.

The video was shot on DUMBO’s rooftops accompanied by a picturesque backdrop of the Manhattan Bridge.

CRUEL SUMMER BY BANANARAMA (1983)

“Cruel Summer” is a pop song written and performed by Bananarama that was a top ten hit in Britain (1983) and the U.S. (1984).

The music video was shot in the summer of 1983 and takes place in locations all across DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights.

In “Like I Can“, Sam Smith and his league of gentlemen take themselves around New York City.
